Belfast Giants vs Guildford Flames

Belfast Giants vs Guildford Flames

Hockey season is here! On Saturday the 9th of September the Giants open their season against newcomers Guildford, which will surely prove to be an interesting one!

Guildford are new to the Elite League, having been awarded promotion this year, although they are no strangers to the boards, having started in 1992. The team is one to watch, a generally young turnout of players with a few seasoned vets like Campbell mixing in with young British players like Godfrey and Davies.

Familiar to Giants fans will be former Giant, Kevin Phillips, as well as former Blaze star Liam Stewart. Expect what might be a less than warm welcome from the home fans for those lads!

When a young team hungry to prove themselves meets a new coach determined to cement his legacy, it will guarantee a hard hitting, skillfull game – which is what Hockey Night in Belfast is all about.

The city is looking forward to welcoming a new team to Belfast for this season, as there is a real excitement in getting to follow your team for the first time away. Belfast is under an hour away the rest of the UK, and is a compact city with a lot packed into it, perfect for a short break. There is plenty to intrigue history buffs and the local food and drink industry here is thriving, with Belfast a real gourmet destination for the UK and Ireland.

And remember, hockey fans will get a discount on the Belfast City Sightseeing tours, with a special concession price of £10.50 with your match day ticket. City Sightseeing customers also get discount on the Titanic Museum, Crumlin Road Gaol and HMS Caroline.

The SSE is on our route, at stop number 3, and it is a short walk back from the Arena to the City Centre and Belfast’s famous nightlife!
